Plenty of businesses have a perfectly good website and a hosting arrangement that has quietly become a problem. The person who built it has moved on, the renewal invoice arrives from a company you cannot remember signing up with, and nobody is quite sure who would notice if the site went down on a Saturday.
Hosting & Care is the answer to that. We take the site as it is, move it onto our servers at no charge, and become the people who look after it.
What “looking after it” means
- Fast UK hosting. Servers in the UK, which matters for speed if your customers are here and for data residency if you would rather your logs did not sit overseas.
- SSL, renewed automatically. The padlock in the address bar, and no expiry surprises. An expired certificate turns your site into a full-page browser warning.
- Daily backups, kept 30 days. Restorable to any day in the last month, and tested — an untested backup is a rumour.
- Updates and security monitoring. If your site runs WordPress or similar, we keep the core and plugins patched. Most sites that get hacked were running something with a known fix available.
- Uptime monitoring, 24/7. We are alerted if the site goes down, so we usually know before you do.
- Half an hour of changes each month. Enough for the ordinary stuff — prices, hours, a new photo, a seasonal notice.
Why hosting price is a poor guide to hosting quality
You can host a website for a couple of pounds a month, and for a personal blog that is a perfectly sensible thing to do. For a business it is a false economy, and not for the reason people expect.
The problem is rarely the server — it is that budget hosting comes with nobody. When the site goes down at 4pm on a Friday you are in a support queue behind ten thousand other customers, explaining the problem to somebody reading from a script. The hosting was never the expensive part. The afternoon was.
What you are actually paying for at £15 a month is that somebody notices, and that when you ring, a person who knows your site answers.

We take a copy
We copy the site onto our servers and get it running there, while your live site carries on untouched at the old host.

We test it properly
Every page, every form, every link. If something depended on a quirk of the old host, we find it now rather than after the switch.

We switch the DNS
Usually in the evening. Both copies are live during the changeover, so visitors see a working site whichever one they reach.

We watch it for a fortnight
Then we cancel the old hosting once we are certain nothing is still pointing at it.
There is no charge for migration and no realistic prospect of downtime. If we look at your site and think moving it is a bad idea — it happens, usually with unusual server dependencies — we will tell you rather than take it on and find out later.
Hosting questions
Will you host a site you did not build?
Yes — that is what this plan is for. WordPress, Squarespace exports, static sites, most things.
The exceptions are sites needing unusual server software or very heavy applications. Send us the address and we will tell you straight away whether it is a fit.
What if my site gets hacked?
We restore from a clean backup, close the hole that let them in, and tell you honestly what happened. There is no separate emergency charge for this.
Sites that are patched, backed up and monitored rarely get seriously hurt — the damage usually comes from finding out three weeks late.
Do I get email hosting too?
We do not run mail servers — email is a specialist job and doing it badly gets your messages marked as spam. We will happily set you up with Google Workspace or Microsoft 365 and configure the DNS so it all works.
Can I leave and take my site with me?
Of course. It is your site. Give us 30 days’ notice and we will hand over a full copy and help your new host get it running.
What counts as the monthly half hour?
Text changes, image swaps, price and opening-hour updates, adding a page. Larger pieces of work we will quote for first, or you might be better off on one of the full plans.
